My husband and I recently got married at the Fairmont Banff Springs and had the absolute privilege of working with Gabe as our photographer.

Early on in the wedding planning process, we were researching photographers in the Banff area. When my husband found Gabe’s portfolio on Instagram, he said that it was the first example of wedding photography he had seen that genuinely made him stop in his tracks. Even a cursory look at Gabe’s Instagram or website will give you a good idea of what elicited this reaction. His photos are visually stunning and also manage to capture a vast depth of raw emotion.

Gabe’s familiarity with the area made the post-ceremony photos with just my husband and I a total breeze. He had a full arsenal of gorgeous locations for our photographs. When our ceremony was unexpectedly delayed and we had less time for our couple photos, he immediately came up with an alternate location close to the venue that served as a beautiful backdrop.

Neither my husband nor I are professional models, which I thought would result in an uncomfortable experience in front of the camera. Gabe’s demeanor is (for lack of a better word) extremely chill and we immediately felt relaxed around him. I remember him telling us to just pretend like he wasn’t there on the day of and I was skeptical, because it’s pretty impossible to ignore someone with a huge camera when it’s just him, you, and your new spouse… but he was able to direct my husband and I in a way that still allowed us to be fully present with each other. Taking those photos was not the stressful performance I was worried it would be, but rather a treasured part of the day when we were able to have some time to ourselves.

We wanted our wedding photos to reflect the genuine beauty of the day that we had celebrating with our loved ones, and Gabe fully delivered on that front. I have no doubt that his background as a photojournalist contributed to his ability to capture candid shots that look like they have been meticulously posed. We can’t recommend him enough.
