i think this is how we’re suppose to be in the world – present and in awe ~ ann lamott
how do i put into words what it meant to me to be back here? to stand at the base of waterfalls and feel the soft moss below my feet i was sure i’d never see or feel again. to explore this country that offered its raw and natural beauty to me as my backdrop last year and forever changed my life. how do i put into words how special Iceland is to me? i’m not sure i ever can or will ever be able to. but i can say that none of these experiences would be possible without couples like Mauricio and Rania who place 100% of their trust in me. who spent 2 days with me chasing light up and down mountain tops through the wind and cold damp fog, all to allow me to create images for them. to create memories. for this i am eternally grateful to my couples.
i wanted to share an email Mauricio and Rania sent me when they arrived home from Iceland, as it truly meant the world to me to read their thoughts on those 2 days:
It was a pleasure shooting with you in Iceland. It was such a surreal experience for Mauricio and I. We couldn’t stop talking about it days after. We really enjoyed your company those two days of shooting. Mauricio and I noticed you share a lot of the same values as we do. We loved how you put your family first, and everything you do is for them. One day, we hope to be wonderful parents like you. I hope your daughters liked the rocks you picked up from the top of the outer-space looking mountain.
When we dropped you off at your hotel the last day, Mauricio and I felt sad. It was like we were saying good bye to an old friend we might never see again. I hope that’s not the case. Please if you and your family are ever in Miami or San Francisco (wherever we are), don’t be a stranger. Our home is always open to you.
Again, thank you for making our wedding dreams come true. We are very excited to see the photos. The ones you’ve posted on your facebook are stunning, and breathtaking.
